character limit for news-title and short-story

Hey guys,
I need a limit for my news-title and short-story.
When it's too long it should show an error-message like "Your Short-Story is too long. You are allowed to write only XXX letters."

I think I have to add some codes into editnews.mdu and addnews.mdu, but what??

2 different avatars

Hey guys,
I'm using different templates for my cutenews website.
But there's a problem:

On top of my site there is the latest article of a specific category (lets call it template1).
Next are the two top-news (template 2).

My wish: One big picture as an avatar in template 1 and an other avatar for template 2.
I think to change the form in cutenews isn't a big problem, as long as I know where to add,
but the thing is: I don't know where to put the command in, so cutenews know, if I put a picture in avatar1 its for template1 and the avatar2 field is for template2.

So I need the file, where I can define the {avatar} in order to copy and edit it.

Change the way smilies are displayed in CN

Hello,

I changed the smilies in CN into some bigger ones (ca.70x70px).
But now there is a looooong column next to the shortstory-area with just 1 smiley per row.
I want to have more than 1 smiley in a row even if they are bigger than the normal CN-smileys.
Where can I change this and how?

PS: I've got an additional question, but that is not so important. Is there any way to have this: : ) or : ( or ^ ^ (etc., without the "space") changed into a smiley, automatically instead of :smileyname:?

Adding some data to my news

Hello,

I want to add some additional data to my news with new fields at the backend - e.g. under the title-field.

I tried to modify the "Add News" and "Editing News" Page with this http://cutephp.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=32318 hack.
But its not really working since the data don't apear on my news. At least a new field apeard on the "adding" and "editing" page.

Do you have an idea how to add data to my news with additional fields?
