Topic: Cutenews 1.5.0

Dear users,

We're proud to present you CuteNews v. 1.5.0 beta! Relax and get ready: it'll be the most exciting Cute News you've seen so far!

Our primary focus in this version was the work security and we've put really much effort into optimizing it: Now, CuteNews supports SHA256 hash function and implements a new way of storing the guest data in cookies. Among other important  security features include the introduction of Captcha into CuteNews, the IP-adress banning function and storing the users' sign-in logs, and a lot of other cool new features that will help you work safer.

Another big feature we've added in this version is the plug-in support, which will significantly extand your opportunities when working with CuteNews. Keeping up with the time and the zeitgeist of social networking, we also added Facebook commenting. Finally, we've fixed a number of small bugs, so working with CuteNews 1.5.0 will feel smoother than ever.

So, don't hesitate and try CuteNews 1.5.0 beta now!

Re: Cutenews 1.5.0

It sucks. There are so many hacks and tricks that everything is still the same. Why havent you put the chance to translate days and months, why havent you put the template date (weekday, months, year, day) available instead of being stuck with the traditional date template you give. Why theres no chance to have linked categories? Cutenews its amazing but it lose the competition with wordpress and others because people are stuck with the options you give and after all the people here worked to create hacks and stuff, what do u do? U change most part of the platform!!! Congratulations!!

Dear Users!

Many thanks for your comments and suggestions. Please bear in mind that CuteNews 1.5.0 is still in its beta stage. Our programmers are diligently working to rectify all the issues and we hope to add the necessary plug-ins in the foreseeable future.

Re: Cutenews 1.5.0

I have only just found out that CuteNews has been relaunched.

I must say it looks like a good start you have all made. My only suggestion/enquiry is why you never had the date hack feature built in as standard in the add news and edit news code. I understand it may be available as a plugin at a leater date (great feature by the way) but I would have been inclined to make it a standard feature from the start.

Other than that, congratulations all the way.

Re: Cutenews 1.5.0

In fact, in cutenews 1.5 I see function embedateformat, it has {month}, {weekday}, {year}, {day}, {hours}, {minite} and {since} field.

I have a very strong suggestion for Cutenews team. I have been using the CMS since a long time now and I love it. There is just a little small issue with it. All the news articles are stored on a flat file and eventually your file size increases so much that your server fails to read that file since there is a flat file size limit.

What you should do is that you either give an option of shifting your database to MYSQL (that would be just awesome and there are so many people out there who wants that) or CuteNews should create more than one flat files to save the data. For example if news.txt file reaches 10mb, it automatically create news2.txt and when news2.txt reaches 10mb it automatically creates news3.txt.

You know better than me and im sure you guys can come up with a solution. I haven't been able to use CuteNews on big projects because of this issue. CuteNews.ru converted cutenews into a MYSql version. Thats a brilliant idea and I think its you guys should convert it to MySQL.

Hi, i'm using cutenews for my website since 1 year. I must tell you that this new version 1.5 is fantastic. Everything works fine and i really like. Thanks very much for this software!
I wonder if you can add a visitor counte in the next release, since the hack present at this link https://cutephp.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=33202 is not longer working, since the file show.inc.php is different from the previous ones.

Thanks again

Re: Cutenews 1.5.0

I was skeptic at first when I heard about this new version, but after looking into it I think it's very convincing!
To explain briefly what I like:
- Code restructuring. This was really needed!
- New features. I love the additional fields, very good realization.
- Character support seems great and also easily customizable. I have yet to test it thoroughly.

I'm looking through the code and writing down the things I like, the bugs I find and the things that bother me, so expect a topic in the next days to come! // Edit: here is my full review

Re: Cutenews 1.5.0

I'm considering to use cutephph for my use. Seems that this new version is good enough. I'll make up my mind.

Re: Cutenews 1.5.0

This news sounds good! I don't use it yet. But, I'm gonna try it soon.

Re: Cutenews 1.5.0

Just installed the beta version for testing and have found an error after installing...

Fatal error: func_get_arg(): Can't be used as a function parameter in /cutenews/core/core.php on line 262

Anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Cutenews 1.5.0

Change the file core/core.php with the following one (if you don't use the latest build cutenews)
https://raw.github.com/CuteNews/cute-news-r...s/core/core.php
or make changes as requested there:

One other thing. Is there a way to make the news links seo friendly? I have tried to pick yes in the Custom Rewrite dropdown, but it reverts to no when I click save.

Cute news is a powerful and easy for using news management system that use flat files to store its database. It supports comments and archives that can be organized by months.
