Topic: Static URLs instead of dynamic urls

Hello, I've been searching around a bit for this, but have only found 6+ year old responses that I'm sure will work anymore. Anyways, is there any (easy) way where I can get static URLs for my news entries using CuteNews, instead of dynamic URLs?

In other words, instead of:

http://website.com/index.php?id=someID

I want:

http://website.com/titleOfPost

Hope someone can help with this.

Re: Static URLs instead of dynamic urls

We've tested and added a possibility to install any  PageAlias (even without .html suffix).

1. Make an update (to the latest github version) according to these changes:
https://github.com/CuteNews/cutenews-2.0/co...58ebdba66bbb3ff

2. Go to System configuration > Rewrite; install "Real path to your layout file" parameter or leave it empty and then replace it; install "Rewrite prefix" parameter on "/" symbol (without quotation marks); save configurations.

3. Save the news, filling "PAGE ALIAS" field with "titleOfPost" or "titleOfPost.html", for example.

Re: Static URLs instead of dynamic urls

Hi Support Team

Thanks for this wonderful update, now we can have the news page extension remove.

As I don't have access to my website until Wednesday to test this, can I ask if there will be any conflicting issues with the rewrite module in cute news if  i add in URL rewrite to the htacess to remove my other pages .PHP extension (cutenews not located in this pages)?

Re: Static URLs instead of dynamic urls

Thanks a lot, exactly what I was looking for!

Is there any way I can automate the page aliases so that I don't have to write and format the title in the "PAGE ALIAS" field myself? As it, automatically have it so that a blog entry with title "This is an entry" automatically becomes "www.website.com/This_is_an_entry"?

Great work on CuteNews 2.0 btw!

Would like to see this being optional too. My editors are complaining that it is troublesome for them to retype the page title again in the page alias.

Re: Static URLs instead of dynamic urls

how can I change _ to -?

I mean I want - to replace the space instead of _ and obviously delete - if it on the title

Re: Static URLs instead of dynamic urls

Thank you for the last update.

Static URLs are good for Long-term Marketing campaigns. If your URLs will change frequently then I will hurt your traffic and revenue.

Re: Static URLs instead of dynamic urls

Yes! static urls are much more better then a dynamic which changes frequently. It will definitely reflect in decreasing the site traffic.
