I was using cutenews many years ago, now I have reinstalled the program but is complicating my life. In practice, when I insert the php site using these codes:

But by including both the first gives me the whole story, while the second (modified by me) I own the title with a link to the whole story. If I click works perfectly, but if the code is so I have the same things twice. But my problem is: if I remove the first the second php code works (apparently), but when I try to click to see the whole story, but I see nothing loads ... I hope I was clear. Please help me!

For example, when I insert an image and give it a border from 2px than de

i have recently used cutenews 1.4.7 in my school site. the problem is that when i write in arabic it is stored in some thing deferent characters. and when i try to show then it is displayed not in arabic. i tried to open news.txt directly and found no arabic text.Replaced it directly and uploaded then flie, Dosplayed in arabic...
So the problem seems it is in storing process... How to solve this???? help please

Different Directories Effecting the Headlines Template

I read the stickied topic and noticed people don't actually go to this website anymore? That's a shame because I really need some help.

I am currently using the Cutenews Headlines template (that is, just showing news titles) in my Footer php file, so it shows up on every page. Some of my pages, however, are located in different directories - and while the Headlines still show up, the links to the news pages don't work.

For example. On my main page, the links work as they should. "index.php?subaction=..." etc.

But the rest of my pages are in different directories, such as "mysite.com/about/faq/". When viewing that page, the Headlines will still be there in the footer, but when I click on them, they don't take me to the actual news page. They don't take me anywhere. It becomes "mysite.com/about/faq/index.php?subaction=..." which doesn't exist =/

I tried doing a search using terms such as "directory issue" but couldn't find anything. If this answer has already been discussed, I apologize. Some help would be GREATLY appreciated! <3

Edit: I managed to figure it out ^__^ I scanned the FAQ and while I didn't understand what " $PHP_SELF" meant at the beginning, (I'm a n00b), I played around with it for a while until it did what I wanted. I guess I posted this too soon =P

Voy a Opciones --> Integración Wizards --> Integrar noticias en su sitio. Esto me lleva a una página que dice: Noticias de integración de Asistente
Ésta página, al final, tiene un diálogo que dice "proceder a la integración" y por más que le doy para integrar no me cambia de página, con lo que no me genera el código que necesito.

I cannot seem to figure out how to get the Mod Rewrite to work. I either get a 500 Internal Service Error, or a 404 page (usually when I delete RewriteBase from the htaccess file).

Does it work with $PHP_SELF or am I out of luck?

I am having a problem with a time out when I try to edit news. I have about 700 articles, so I did not think it would be an issue yet. I have tried to archive all the articles which will then let me go to the edit page and show that I have 0 articles. But then once I add an article, and then go to the edit page it will hang and time out again. Here is the error message:

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home/afpd/public_html/news/inc/functions.inc.php on line 405

Any suggestions? I am using version 1.4.6 and UTF-8 news 9.0.1

Star rating not working in short story

Hi! I'm trying to install the AJAX-star-rater from an old website I had (the original code isn't on the forum anymore) but it doesn't work anymore and I don't get why:

I can rate when I'm in the full story, but in the short story, it seems that cutenews can't get the ID of the article, it shows with those two problems:

- If I rate any article, the modified line stays always the last of the file (so the first article of the website)
- I created a code named {voters} wich shows the number of voters and again, it works only in the fullstory, but the short story shows every voters without any space one after the other.

The final aim of this is to have a heart, or any button on wich I clik and increase by 1 the number of voters on the article. That should be really simple but since the rater had a problem from the beginning without even modifying it, I can't go further in the changes.

Hey Guys,

So I am trying to get the facebook social commenting plugin working... I see that there are already a couple of threads and it all work's but the only problem is that say I put a comment on PAGE A then click on PAGE B the comment is also on page B... meaning if a site user comments on one article it appears on every article.

Do you know how to fix this? I have been reading about it and it has something to do with the date-href and I tried using this URL for it: "data-href="http://www.wantedfm.com/example1.php?subaction=showfull&id={news-id}&archive=&start_from=&"

But this also didn't work... so I am not sure what to do? Any ideas?

For now I have taken out the "data-href" all together and it works fine except it has a yellow comment on each page saying "Warning: this comments plugin is operating in compatibility mode, but has no posts yet. Consider specifying an explicit 'href' as suggested in the comments plugin documentation to take advantage of all plugin features."

So yeah I am just wondering if anyone know's a fix for this? Thanks in advance!

RSS, Can't change to specific category

Hi!

I've added the rss feed to my webpage... But it shows from all categorys, I've tried to go into Options > Integration Wizards (News and RSS) > Rss Setup and Integration > RSS Customization... And then choosing the category and generating the html code. But still it's showing from every category... Any ideas what the problem can be?

Even if I remove the generated html code from my index page, the RSS feed still working?

Unable to login after duplicating cutenews

I will explain what I did and hopefully you guys will figure out what went wrong.

I wanted to duplicate my cutenews site and make another one with the same users, templates and so forth. So i simply duplicated the cutenews folder on the server. When I tried to login into the new folder it said username and password was incorrect. I figured I had to install a fresh install and the migrate the content in some way instead, so I deleted the duplicate and did just that but and was able to login into my new install but then I couldn't login into the original install. Figured that installing the fresh install could've done something to the old one, so I went back to the start, deleting the new install and so I only have the original.

But I still can't login!

What am I doing wrong?

EDIT: might add that I am using UTF-8 Cutenews 9.0.1

not allowed category

Hi there,

We're having some problems when adding the news: we have 2 categories, and one's working perfectly fine, but when we choose to add news selecting the other category the message "not allowed category" appears.

We've upgraded the CuteNews version and re-integrated the code on our homepage, but the error persists. We've also deleted the category and create it from scratch (with the same name) in vain, and now the news in that category aren't displayed on the site.

We've noticed the code CuteNews generates is different for each category, but we don't understand why. Could you please help us and tell us what to do?

So I though of this. I went to shows.inc.php and made this line under "active news"

And it works! But the problem is that it's either ifront of everything in my template or behind everything in my template. I doesnt get into the template, it gets either before or after... So than I though of this:

And then in my template writing {test}

How co change {author} and {comments-num}

Hi there,
i would like to ask you how can i change colors of those template parts, because i'm working so hard with templates editor in cutenews options and i'm struggling with my CSS files and nothing changed :/ I'm not some webmaster guru and but i have to change colors to white and some greyish shades. Here is what i've got right now:

I couldn't found this hacks with search so I opened up a topic.

1. Is it possible to create Custom Fields, like there is "avatar" function for each post?

2. On the site I want to make a submit form. I mean, there will be kinda form where user will write title & little description and will submit it. Then I'll see it in Admin Panel and will approve it. Is there any methods to make it?
