Topic: I need some help

Hi,

This is the first time I have ever used anything like cutenews, and I have everything installed and working and I have used the advice on here to add the option of disabling comments.

But I have just realised my emoticons aren't working, and neither are any images that I try to upload within a news item.

I have read through here and checked my pathnames and CHMOD's are all correct (and I tried setting things to 777 and 755) but still no luck.

Has anyone else had this problem and knows how to fix it?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Re: I need some help

Hi,

I downloaded 1.4.7 today, and I was running Firefox.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Re: I need some help

I would recommend you to use UTF-8 CuteNews 9.0.1 if you've just started with CuteNews. It is more secure and more stable than 1.4.6 or the "new" 1.4.7

But I tried it with 1.4.7 here and it works (I'm using Firefox too): http://filou83.cwsurf.de/cn147/example2.php

Maybe you can provide a link to your installation with a test user?

Thanks for your reply.

I reinstalled fresh this morning but still no luck.

I think I must have set the wrong permissions somewhere. Could you possibly tell me exactly which folders/files I need to set to which CHMOD values?

This is a link to one of the images: http://www.ninchucka.co.uk/cutenews/data/u...es/DSC01860.JPG

As you can see, it just gets some sort of error.

Thanks for your help.

Re: I need some help

As I can see you are currently reinstalling UTF-8 CuteNews... I'll check back later after you've finished http://cutephp.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif

I have installed both 1.4.7 and utf and having the same issue on both. I think it must be something to do with CHMOD?

UTF:

1.4.7

Thanks

Re: I need some help

Thank you for all your help Filou83.

I have sorted things out using utf-f. Still had a problem but it was fixed by the suggestion in the forum to remove .htaccess.

Much appreciated!
