Access Restricted message

Hi everyone. I'm new to using cutenews and I'm having problems getting it to work right. I am currently running XAMPP on my Mac and i have cutenews installed in this directory Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs/CuteNews. I can view the news if I go to localhost/CuteNews/show_news.php but when I try to call it like this: include("/Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs/CuteNews/show_news.php"); it returns Access Restricted instead of the news. Can anyone help me figure out why this happens. I've looked all over and I can't seem to find a solution. Please help
