Template question

Good day,

I recently started using the newest version of Cutenews for my website, and I have some questions about how to optimise one certain template.
What I'm trying to do is display a recent news feed in the sidebar, and limit the amount of news posts to be shown to about five. Also it would be great if I could disable images in this template.

Does anyone know how to do this?
